Waddle Home

StandaloneESXQBCoreQbox

The classic race round the board for 2–4 players: four ducklings each, one die, and a lot of sending each other back to the nest. Played on the real board at a table in your world, with ten boards to choose from, house rules in the lobby, computer players and a leaderboard.

In play

The game, feature by feature

Take a seat: walk up to a chair, sit down, and the lobby opens.
Ten boards: the first player picks one in the lobby, and the table changes for everyone.
On the real board: throw, see where a duckling would land, and send another one back to its nest.
Back to the nest: land on a duckling, and it flies head over heels to its nest.
Everyone nearby sees it: the cup, the die and every hop, from anywhere around the table.
Computer players at the table: a ped sits on their chair and shakes the cup.
All home: the last duckling walks in, and the game is won.
A table in your pocket: red where it cannot stand, green where it fits.
Picked up again: with ox_target, and the table goes back into the inventory.

What you get

Waddle Home, in detail

The game

  • Everybody knows it: throw, move one duckling exactly that many fields, and land on someone to send them back to the nest.
  • A 6 brings a duckling out of the nest, and gives another throw.
  • Home: after a full lap a duckling turns into its own lane, with the exact number. The first with all ducklings home wins.
  • As long or short as you like: 2, 3 or 4 ducklings a player and a head start, chosen in the lobby.
  • House rules: a 6 must come out, you must send back when you can, the start field must clear, and more in the config.

On the board

  • Played on the real board: a seated player looks down at the table and clicks the ducklings where they stand. A large board on screen is one click away.
  • See before you go: the ducklings that can go glow, and the mouse over one shows its way and where it lands.
  • No needless clicks: the only possible move goes by itself, and when a rule leaves no choice the game says which.
  • Everyone at a glance: a dot for every duckling shows how far each player has got. The ? explains the game in seven sentences.
  • Reactions and sound: quick reactions beside your name, and a volume of each player's own.

Computer players

  • Free seats: the first player adds up to three in the lobby, so one person can play a full game.
  • 3 strengths: the hard one counts what stands behind each field before it moves.
  • At the table: a ped sits on their chair and shakes the cup. Games with computer players are never played for money.

In the world

  • 26 custom props: a square table with felt and a wooden rim, ten boards, chairs and ducklings in four colours, a die and a cup.
  • Ten boards: Midnight, Heirloom, Palazzo, Art Deco, Parlour, Neon, Harbour, Zen, Foundry and Modernist, picked in the lobby.
  • Live table: the cup is shaken, the die lands in the same spot for everyone, ducklings hop field by field, and the winner's ducklings hop for joy.
  • Watching: bystanders follow the game without taking a seat.
  • A table in your pocket: players carry one as an item and put it up wherever it fits, or admins place tables with a command.

Fair play

  • Server-side die: the server throws and judges every move.
  • Time per step: chosen in the lobby. Idle players stand up by themselves, so nobody holds up a table.
  • Reconnect: seat and ducklings are kept after a lost connection.
  • Stakes: optional, from the amounts you allow; the winner takes the pot, also after a disconnect.
  • Leaderboard: wins, ducklings home and ducklings sent back, through oxmysql.

Before you buy

No dependencies. Used when they are running: ESX, QBCore or Qbox for character names and the stake, oxmysql for records and the leaderboard, ox_target for sitting down and watching. The table item works with ESX, QBCore, Qbox or ox_inventory.
